Aquatic food systems are essential to global food security and biodiversity but remain underserved by existing sustainability indexes, especially amid rising uncertainties and accelerating climate change. Current frameworks are fragmented, environmentally weighted, and insufficiently inclusive of social, economic, and governance dimensions. As we...

Countries are increasingly identifying the location and quality of natural capital (NC) and the benefits it provides, extending these assessments beyond rural areas to include cities (Willis and Petrokofsky 2017). To better evaluate urban sustainability, an economic framework based on the Inclusive Wealth Index (IWI) has been introduced, enabling...

Water insecurity, intensified by climate change, environmental degradation, and unsustainable resource management, poses a significant threat to human well-being in coastal regions. This study examines the interrelationships among water governance, household well-being, and water security in southwestern Bangladesh. Using a multistage sampling...

Previous research identified three reasons for valuing nature (i.e., the basis for seeing nature as valuable and important): (1) valuing nature for what it gives to humans (instrumental), (2) valuing nature for its own sake (intrinsic), and (3) valuing nature because of the relationship between people and nature (relational). Of these, relational...

This study examines the water-energy-food nexus (WEFN) at the household level in rural Zimbabwe, focusing on how sugarcane farming affects local communities’ access to and management of essential resources. The research addresses a critical knowledge gap in understanding household-level WEFN dynamics in developing countries, where resource...
Ecosystem Services Partnership 11th World Conference
We attempt a bottom-up approach to developing NFF-based localized future scenarios up to 2050 that capture these local concerns and efforts. Our exercise started with interpreting the Ramsar Site Management Plan (2022) from the NFF lens, followed by a stakeholder workshop in 2024 to flesh out multiple future scenarios. A spatially-explicit...
